SOS 14 Conference

Exascale systems will provide an unprecedented opportunity for science, one that will make it possible to use computation not only as a critical tool along with theory and experiment in understanding the behavior of the fundamental components of nature but also to meet the science goals critical to the world's energy, ecological sustainability, and global security.

Recent studies have identified the high level problems facing the HPC community as it moves towards exascale over the next decade. SOS 14 focuses on three of the major challenges:

  • Problems caused by the growing scale and concurrency
  • Problems caused by having heterogeneous many-core node architectures
  • Problems are caused by the huge increase in the data produced and
    consumed

The conference will include updates on the latest exascale activities as well as talks and panels on the three major challenge areas.
