Edward L. Frome
Senior Research Staff
Statistics and Data Science Group
Computer Science and Mathematics Division
Oak Ridge National Laboratory

From 1973 to 1977 Frome was on the faculty of University of Texas at Austin. From 1977 to 1981 he was Biostatistics Section Leader, Epidemiology Group, Oak Ridge Associated Universities. From 1981 to date he has been employed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He was an Adjunct Professor, Department of Biostatistics, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1981 to 2002, and was a member of the Research Planning Group for the ORAU-UNC collaborative epidemiologic studies of nuclear industry employees from 1981 to 1994. He is currently an Adjunct Professor, Department of Statistics, University of Tennessee. From 1981 to date his research has been in the areas of biostatistics, statistical epidemiology, statistical computing, and the analysis of large-complex data sets. Collaborative research has been in the analysis of biological experiments in radiation carcinogenesis, respiratory toxicology, experimental genetics, observational data from epidemiological studies, health effects of beryllium, and infrared thermography to detect deception. More recent work is available on line at http://www.csm.ornl.gov/~frome/BE/

Over the last thirty years Dr. Frome has focused on the development of computationally intensive methods primarily motivated by "real world" problems in statistical data analysis. This work has been done both independently and jointly with others, and has resulted in over 80 scientific publications.
