The following weights are used for directly adjusted rates for all ES
reports. The weights are based on the US 1970 standard million
population for ages from 20 to 64. Events and person-years for ages
16-19 are included in the first age interval. Events and
person-years for ages 65-69 are included in the last age interval.
Events and person-years for ages less than 16 or greater than 69 will
not be included ( see Note below ).
The method used to
obtain standard errors and confidence limits below are described here.
