The Work Around Daemon (WAD) WAD was written so we here at Oak Ridge National Laboratory could experiment with the knobs provided by the web100/net100 project. We hoped to see which variables in the tcp stack could be tuned to provide the best performance. Those deemed most helpful have subsequently been incorporated into the web100 patch file for the Linux kernel. (web100.org) The official web page for WAD: http://www.csm.ornl.gov/~dunigan/netperf/wad.html This page contains a link for the paper delivered at SC02 that describes the work done with wad. As with all software written for research purposes, WAD is in constant flux and must come with the usual disclaimers. What you are seeing is a snapshot in time as, most certainly, we are currently modifying it to try out new ideas. This software comes with NO WARRANTY! contents -------- - README_WAD - source code: wad.c wadsubs.c - wad.conf: a sample configuration file - wad-make: a sample makefile requires -------- - a machine running a kernel.org linux-2.X.XX kernel with the latest web100 private patches applied and the web100-userland api installed-- (http://www.web100.org)(You may need to alter the makefile to point to your userland installation) - also helpful to have CONFIG_NETLINK_DEV configured feedback -------- We are interested in your feedback and the results of any tests you may run.
