This year Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is pleased to host the annual DOE Computer Graphics Forum meeting. The venue we've chosen this year is a beautiful spot nestled in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, down in Townsend, TN - at the Maple Leaf Lodge!

The Maple Leaf is located about 20 miles South of the McGhee-Tyson Airport in Knoxville (TYS), and the drive only takes about 23 mins, passing through historic Maryville and winding down through beautiful mountainous terrain into Townsend... :) Then up a hill, by a trickling waterfall, into a secluded wooded area, to the spacious rustic lodge (with wireless high-speed internet! :-), and artistically decorated lodge rooms and cabins.

There are luxurious accommodations for 35 attendees, with other cabins available at nearby facilities for any overflow if more people than that wish to attend. There are 12 custom lodge rooms, 8 one bedroom cabins, 6 two bedroom cabins, a duplex cabin, and one VIP suite, all recently redecorated.

All of the single occupancy rooms/cabins (and each half of the duplex cabin) will be available at 150% of the lodging per diem for Townsend, at $118.50/night. The double occupancy two bedroom cabins will go for a reduced rate of only $78/person per night (coming in at $1 under per diem!) - these cabins have two separate enclosed bedrooms, with a shared living space and bathroom. (Please plan to pair up if you'd like to share one of these cozy two bedroom cabins with a buddy! :-)

There is wireless high-speed internet (T1) throughout the main lodge building and meeting rooms, and the 12 custom lodge rooms get a strong signal, too. The cabin rooms are just out reach of the wireless, but each room has a modern telephone with a data jack for dial-out access. Also, we're taking over the whole facility, and there are lots of comfy spots in the lodge where you can sink into a plush couch or chair and read your email over the wireless... :-)

There will be a registration fee of $350.00 for the meeting, in addition to your very reasonably negotiated room rate. This registration fee covers the cost of the wireless high-speed internet for the week, meeting rooms/special projection equipment, exclusive use of the grounds, and for the fantastic catering, as prepared by their world class in-house chef, for every meal and snack break during the meeting. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided, along with morning and afternoon snacks, with the exception of Monday night dinner on your own. The registration fee is payable by check or credit card (please see the registration web site below).

Overall, this site is awesome and the food we've picked out really sounds *fantastic*... (wide range of entrees, homemade breads, lots of hearty and gourmet items... :) We hope you will join us for an exciting meeting experience! (BTW, if you have any special access or dietary needs, or are some level of practicing vegetarian, please let me know! :)

If you have any questions/concerns, please don't hesitate to ask. I'll do what I can to handle special requests.

Thanks Much, and Hope to See You in April! :-D
