Science UltraNet Architecture for Applications, Middleware and Transport

1. Technologies could be developed on UltraNet to enable users to dynamically assemble selected network technologies at each layer to satisfy the end-to-end performance requirements of science applications;
2. An out-of band signaling network will be used to schedule, control, and manage network resources; and
3. The logical network layer will facilitate the provisioning of packet or circuit-switched links consisting of single, multiple, or sub wavelengths.
