DOE Workshop on
Ultra High-Speed Transport Protocols and Dynamic Provisiong for Large-Scale Science Applications

April 10-11, 2003

Argonne National Laboratory
Argonne, IL

Background Information

The final report of the following DOE workshop contains a comprehensive account of the networking needs and aspects of DOE high-performance networks for high-impact science:

High-Performance Network Planning Workshop, August 13-15, 2002

This workshop was organized by Office of Science, U.S. Department of Energy. A comprehensive report on various aspects of High-Performance Networks for High-Impact Science was produced based on this workshop. This report dicusses various networking aspects together with middleware, testbeds and various application requirements.

For particpants that are new to this class of network applications, the following earlier documents could provide quick and brief introductions to the networking needs for three specific areas:

(a) Terascale Supernova Computations

(b) Genomics-to-Life Computations

(c) High-Energy Neutron Source Facilities
