Testing of StorageTek silo under AIX and Solaris

IBM/Houston does not have an STK silo or drives. Testing of HPSS release 4.3 was solicited and arranged in Probe at ORNL. The IBM RS/6000 S80 node, "stingray", was used for AIX testing; the Sun E450, "happy", was used for Solaris 8 testing. The AIX testing used SCSI 9840 drives in one STK silo; the Solaris testing used two FibreChannel 9840 drives in another STK silo connected through a StorageTek SN6000 and a Brocade fibrechannel switch. All testing proceeded well without notable problems. IBM staff (Greg Howard) did the testing; Dan Million was the ORNL facilitator.
