Testing of Internet Storage Router (iSR)

Genroco staff performed a test of their Internet Storage Router (iSR) at ORNL. The device incorporates a Gigabit Ethernet interface and a FibreChannel interface in the same box. The device is currently in beta test. Communication is via SCSI over Scheduled Transfer. The device was attached to ORNL?s Compaq Alpha DS20 and to a Sun StorEdge T300 FibreChannel RAID disk array. Transfer rates of 54 megabytes/second (reading) and 45.61 megabytes/second (writing) were observed. Improvements to the software and hardware (each currently being developed and destined for testing at ORNL) will substantially improve both rates.
