Dr. Nagiza F. Samatova

Dr. Nagiza F. Samatova is a Research Scientist in Computer Science and Mathematics Division of Oak Ridge National Laboratory. She received the B.S. degree in applied mathematics from the Tashkent State University, Uzbekistan, in 1991 and her Ph.D. degree in mathematics from the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, in 1993, at the age of 23. In 1993, she joined the Tashkent State University, Uzbekistan, as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, where she headed the discrete mathematics group, and became an Associate Professor in 1995. From 1996 till 1999 she worked as a Research Associate at the Joint Institute for Computational Science (JICS), University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she obtained a M.S. degree in Computer Science in 1998. In 2000, Dr. Samatova has joined the ORNL as a postdoctoral research scientist in the Computer Science and Mathematics Division. She became a research staff member in 2001. Dr. Samatova specializes in computational biology and high performance data mining, knowledge discovery and statistical data analysis algorithms for massive, distributed and dynamic data stores. Dr. Samatova is a member of ACM and IEEE Computer. She serves on the editorial board of the ACM Computing Reviews journal. She has been holding international scientific program committee appointments for the SIAM international conferences on Data Mining. She is the author of over 30 publications, 1 book, and 2 patents.
