About Me

My name is Oluwatomisin (Tosin) Adeyeye. I was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 25, 1981 to Nigerian parents. My family moved back to Nigeria when I was 4 years old so I grew up in Nigeria. I am the first child of my parents and, I have two sisters and a brother. I am a Computer Science/Music student (concentration in Voice) at Fisk University. I am a Junior and I will be graduating May 6th, 2004.

I am working with Dr Glenn Allgood (my mentor) as an intern with Research Alliance for Minorities (RAM) for the summer at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory on a device that will detect trees infested with destructive beetles using acoustic detection. Working with Dr Allgood has exposed me to an environment totally different from the classroom and given me the opportunity to work with a team of people with various backgrounds and outlooks on life.

Working here at the lab has also increased my knowledge on how Computer Science can be used for a myriad of applications. Working with Dr. Allgood at the lab here has helped me to feel responsible. I am amazed that my opinions about issues were accepted and it made me feel like a part of the team. Overall, working here at the lab is an opportunity I'm glad to have had the opportunity to participate in, and I am glad to have made the best use of it!
