Welcome to My Webpage

Hello, My name is Amara Diggs and I am a student at York College. My major is Information Systems Management and my interest is in computer programming and languages. I am currently attending an internship at Oak Ridge National Laboratory(ORNL) in Oak Ridge, Tennessee with the Research Alliance for Minorites(RAM) Program. I am working with 2 colleagues from my school(Lori Collins and William Burke) and together we are learning how to build, configure, and administrate Linux clusters.

We are here learning cluster computing in hopes of building a cluster laboratory in our school. With this cluster, scientist, researchers, and profesors(within the City University of New York), will be able to come to York College to do their research and studies. At this present time, a grant is being applied for on our behalf to receive computers so that when my colleagues and I are finished with our internship, we can go back and build/administrate the laboratory.

At ORNL, we are working with a team of cluster computing researchers. The team consist of our mentor, Stephen Scott, Ph.D., and his associates: Thomas Naughton, John Mugler, and Brian Luethke. With their experience and leadership, we will leave the laboratory with a new expertise: cluster administration.
